Firewise Program 2026
In 2025, Lou Pagano initiated the research and development of the Firewise Program in collaboration with a North Carolina–based organization that conducted a comprehensive assessment of our community’s fire risk. This partnership also supported the successful application for a grant to fund the removal of hazardous underbrush.
Using maps and satellite imagery, the highest-risk areas were identified, and the HOA Board directed Marvin’s team to complete the initial clearing and debris removal. This work represents Phase One of a planned multi-year effort to reduce dangerous vegetation and improve community safety.
Property owners are encouraged to participate by maintaining defensible space on their own properties. These efforts help protect homes, enhance property values, and reduce HOA insurance and maintenance costs. The Firewise program in North Carolina is administered through the North Carolina ForestService under the Resist Wildfire North Carolina initiative.
